Titan Pro Tech Tip: Air Gap Adjustment & Installation
A weak or non-existent spark can cause poor starting, misfiring under load, or complete failure to start when warm. When mounting this replacement ignition coil module, set the correct air gap between the armature legs and the flywheel magnets using a standard feeler gauge or business card (typically 0.25mm to 0.30mm). Rotate the flywheel magnets away from the coil while bolting it loosely, set your shim card in place, let the magnets pull the coil legs down onto the gauge, torque the bolts securely, and then slip the card out before reconnecting the spark plug lead and kill-switch wire.
