Titan Pro Tech Tip: Recoil Installation & Spring Safety
When installing your new pull cord, take extreme care when releasing the tension on your starter's internal recoil spring, as sudden releases can cause injury or damage the spring cassette. Before feeding the new rope, inspect the inner reel pulley channel for any sharp plastic burrs or rough edges that might wear or cut the cord. Seal the cut ends of the nylon rope with a lighter flame to prevent fraying, tie a secure figure-of-eight knot inside the pulley recess, and pre-wind the recoil wheel enough times so the starter handle pulls flush and snug against the housing without sagging.
