Running a pump with contaminated hydraulic oil or insufficient fluid levels causes rapid internal gear wear, leading to pressure drop and loss of splitting power. When fitting this 1212g replacement pump, thoroughly drain and flush the hydraulic fluid reservoir, replace the suction filter/seal, and refill with fresh ISO VG 22 or 32 hydraulic oil. Prime the pump before starting the engine to prevent dry running and cavitation damage.
